The final stage of the journey starts immediately in a grand fashion with the ascent of Ingleborough. The path to the summit is a good one – as is the one on the descent – but finding the latter in mist requires care. After passing over the summit of Little Ingleborough the route passes close to Gaping Gill and this should not be missed.
The limestone scenery is fine on the descent to Clapham Beck and soon the tourist attraction of Ingleborough Cave is reached which is well worth a visit if time permits. The route bypasses Clapham and as it goes around Austwick it crosses Austwick Beck on Flascoe Bridge a fine example of a clapper bridge. Then there is a gentle through Feizor below limestone scars and an equally gentle descent into, and a return to, Ribblesdale with views ahead of the start of the journey.
Beyond Stackhouse the Ribble is rejoined for the last mile or so into Settle and the end of this 247 mile journey at the station.
